TERMS AND CONDITIONS

CONFIDENTIALITY

Confidentiality Agreement

At The Journey Within, confidentiality is fundamental to the therapeutic relationship. The practitioner will keep all session content strictly confidential, except as outlined below.

1. Definition of Confidential Information

“Confidential Information” includes all personal details, history, and session content that is not publicly available. This does not include:

Information the client has made public (e.g., social media, public forums).
Information known to the practitioner before therapy began.
Information the client chooses to disclose to third parties.

Regardless of external disclosures, The Journey Within upholds confidentiality at all times.

2. Professional Supervision & Record-Keeping

The practitioner may discuss their work in professional supervision to ensure quality care but will never disclose identifying details.
Brief, anonymized notes may be kept and securely stored.
Session recordings will only occur with the client’s explicit written consent and will be securely stored and destroyed after use.
Client records will be retained for the required period in accordance with professional and legal guidelines before secure disposal.

3. Limits to Confidentiality

Confidentiality may be breached only in the following situations:

Risk of Harm – If the client presents a credible risk to themselves or others, the practitioner may inform relevant parties (e.g., doctor, next-of-kin, or authorities).
Legal Obligations – If disclosure is required by law (e.g., court order, legal investigation).
Child & Vulnerable Adult Protection – If abuse or harm is suspected.

Whenever possible, the practitioner will inform the client before making any disclosures, unless doing so increases risk or is legally prohibited.

By engaging in therapy with The Journey Within, the client acknowledges and agrees to this confidentiality policy.

NOTE

Therapy sessions may bring suppressed emotions to the surface. While therapy is a powerful tool to help release these emotions gently, sometimes additional feelings may arise in the hours or days following a session. If this happens, these feelings may naturally subside. However, if necessary, I may schedule a brief phone or online session to help address any strong emotions before the next follow-up session. Alternatively, I may seek support from other therapists or modalities as needed.

If I have been formally diagnosed with a mental illness, I will ensure that I have consulted with my healthcare professional regarding the suitability of therapy. I understand that therapy does not aim to diagnose, treat, or cure physical conditions. For any specific physical symptoms or conditions, I acknowledge it is my responsibility to consult with a qualified medical professional or doctor as a priority.

DECLARATION OF UNDERSTANDING & ACCEPTANCE OF THERAPY SESSIONS

I have read and understood the above information and enter into this agreement freely and of my own free will. I agree to indemnify and hold The Journey Within, its practitioners, employees, and representatives harmless.

I acknowledge that the ideas, procedures, and suggestions provided by The Journey Within are not a substitute for medical, psychological, or professional healthcare advice. I further understand that the information provided is not intended to diagnose or treat any medical or psychological condition for myself or others.

I agree that The Journey Within, including its practitioners and representatives, is not liable for any loss, injury, or damages that I may experience in connection with therapy. I irrevocably release The Journey Within from any and all claims, liabilities, actions, or demands, past, present, and future, whether known or unknown. If I initiate any legal proceedings against The Journey Within in contradiction of this release, I agree that such proceedings will be dismissed at my cost and with prejudice against me.

I acknowledge that this agreement is governed by Singapore law, and any disputes will be resolved in the courts of Singapore.

I take full responsibility for my mental, emotional, and physical well-being in therapy. If the therapy session is for a child, I, as the parent or guardian, take full responsibility on their behalf.

Note: If the session is for a child under 21 years old, the signature below must be that of the parent or legal guardian.

SESSION DURATIONS, LATE ARRIVALS & CANCELLATIONS

Each therapy session at The Journey Within is usually scheduled for 60 minutes. If the Client requires a longer session, they are expected to inform the Practitioner in advance.

Clients are expected to respect the allocated time to ensure smooth scheduling for all sessions.

If the Client arrives late or logs in after the scheduled start time, the Practitioner will see the Client for the remainder of the session. However, the full session fee remains payable.
If the session duration stretches beyond the allocated time, it will be charged in 30-minute increments accordingly.
Clients are encouraged to inform the Practitioner in advance if they expect to be late.

Cancellations & No-Shows:

A minimum of 24 hours' notice is required to cancel or reschedule a session.
If less than 24 hours' notice is given, or if the Client does not attend, the full session fee will be charged.

By proceeding with therapy at The Journey Within, the Client acknowledges and agrees to these terms.

TERMINATION

If I decide to end or terminate the therapeutic relationship, I agree to discuss this with the Practitioner beforehand. I understand and acknowledge that any fees paid for unused sessions will not be refunded upon termination.
